August 2023 – Florissant Lodge #2316 Flower Beds for Missouri Home
After receiving the veterans grant and a great discount from gardeners supply we installed 10 wheel chair accessible garden beds . Two on each patio at the Missouri Veterans Home and with the assistance of the Gardeners of Florissant. We planted them up and provided sprinkling cans for the plants and seeds we were able to find and plant .we also planted blueberry bushes and strawberries for the residents. This fall each patio group will let’s us know their wishlist for spring planting so we can start earlier. Elks involved Don Motzkus, Lon Lowery and Peggy Dussold.
September 2022 – Lambert USO
Angelina Fusco was able to visit and serve as a volunteer on three separate occasions this month. With every visit, she assisted in preparing sandwiches, or dishing up a hearty bowl of chili, or maybe just making sure the needs of our visitors are met. It’s so rewarding just being there. At each visit this month, Angi was again able to serve our active and retired military as they made their way to their next assignment, maybe returning home, or just waiting for their next means of transportation. The incredible personnel that pass thru the USO are always happy to spend what time they have in eating a meal, catching a few winks, connect with others who are also waiting in one-on-one conversations, or maybe use the internet available to them. It is always a rewarding time spent at the USO.
